    Never a Dull Moment

That phrase pretty much always applies to life in the Amazon, but was doubly so when eight Mississippians made their way a little further south! Their main objective was to further the construction of the girls’ dorms for our Bible School, but in truth, they did so much more. Please hear me, they worked. Then they worked some more...

    Greetings from the Amazon

With God’s help, there has been much progress in our ministry in the past two months. Many youth in our community are either giving their lives to Christ or making a renewed commitment to follow Him. It can be difficult for the youth here to grow spiritually due to there being so few leaders and youth workers. Tania and I make a good team to be able to minister and teach with the youth here and with the students attending the alternative school (Mecuagu) where we are serving as well.

    NATIVE YOUTH MINISTRY CENTER

Our goal at The Native Youth Ministry Center is to multiply the number of Native Missionaries each year and to send them well equipped to evangelize entire villages in the jungle. These young indigenous people are coming out from their tribal environment and need shelter, discipleship, Bible training and vocational skills.

    New & Exciting Adventures

This past month I had an awesome chance to team up with Medical Ministry International (MMI) as a translator. We went to 3 different villages Santa Sofia, Arara and Nazareth. Had a blessed time getting to know everyone in the communities. As I helped a nurse for the week I really had a chance to bond/interact and connect with every person we got to see. I really do love working with MMI showing the people that we also care about their well being, as we care for their spiritual lives.

    Come with us

As if our last letter did not make things official enough, it is sure official now. Our plane tickets are booked for June 11 and we cannot wait to begin the journey over to our new home in the Amazon Jungle. We are preparing for the move by packing up our house, and most importantly, enjoying the time we have with family and friends.

    “Come on Dad, let’s build a church…”

On the mission field there is no need to! We have built a lot of churches, but we have never been up against more impossible odds. In 2011 we went as a family to an Indian village in Brazil on outreach with our Bible School. We visited the church of one of our Bible School students, Jhine. The growing congregation was meeting in a building that was unstable and too small.

    Local Church Community

I have the privilege of working with a local church here in Leticia, Colombia named Ministerio De Misiones. We’ve now started an intercessory prayer one hour before every service and it's going amazing (Friday, Sunday) we even have people coming 2 hours before service! Just to have their own Jesus time. Praise God!

    Amazon Challence

Right now we are praying and dreaming, making plans as big as the sky and getting ready for what God is going to do next!! While mapping out the future we also spent some time reflecting on this last year. It is amazing to see what God has done in the last twelve months for His glory through our lives, tears, victory, strength, sacrifice, and resources! We know that this season in Peru will be bigger and better than the last and that He has leading rolls in the unfolding drama of the Great Commission for you and us. We are excited!!! Don’t miss God’s call for your life this year. He may call you to do something bigger than you ever thought possible, be ready. We are looking for some more volunteers for Peru, So don’t be surprised if you hear from us…

  • January - Cesar Posted January 18, 2013 by Renae Anderson "My Return to the Jungle"   Thank you all for all your prayers and support. I’m stepping out in faith in going back to the Amazon January 17th. I will be joining up with Medical Ministry International. (MMI.) We will be focusing in eye surgery, Optical procedures. I will be doing anything from translating and assisting the Doctors. We will be assisting people from Leticia as well as different communities in the surrounding area. Last year we served 6,024 eye patients. Normally there are 70-80 volunteers from the States and Canada that are a part of the eye project. So they are in great need of translators, which I will be doing for the first 2 weeks. Read More
  • October/November - Turner Posted January 18, 2013 by Renae Anderson "Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all!"   Tania and I were invited to come up to Canada to participate in orientation meetings with the Canadian mission sending organization called Pioneers. I started in mission work over 5 years ago through Amazon Xpeditions (with whom we are still with as our U.S. sending organization) and had been in search for a Canadian sending organization that has the same vision as AX. About six months ago we came across Pioneers Canada (logo in upper left corner) and became acquainted. As a Canadian based family it is very important for us to also be with a Canadian organization for various reasons. After the 4 day orientation course and our interview, we were accepted as members, yea! Please be sure to read the enclosed “IMPORTANT NOTICE” regarding what this change means for our Canadian supporters. Read More

"A thrill of hope, the weary world rejoices…”

Recently I saw a photo of a simple wooden manger and underneath, the caption read “King size bed”. Through tears I thought to myself “Well, that about sums it up!” Usually in our newsletters we fill every bit of space reporting and sharing everything that the Lord is doing here in the Amazon. All the forward progress. And that’s good. There is so much to tell, for example, just a few days ago we graduated our first class of NISI Students. Two years of loving, studying and discipleship. It was a big day for all of us.

    MY HEART

My heart is to go deep into the jungle, into the remote villages and tribes where people aren't willing to go for whatever reason. I plan to serve un-reached and lost Souls, building relationships and showing them the love of Christ. In doing so I will get closer to them and find out their true needs. I want to disciple them and show them who Jesus Christ really is, and what He did for them. Finally I plan to send them out as missionaries so that they may start relationships with other villages, showing them the love of Christ. Who knows or understands them better then their own people. Locals will get deeper into the jungle than we will ever have a chance to.

    Blessed…

What a privilege. This month none other than Nickie Geldenhuys came all the way here to speak into us and our students! Nickie wowed the students with personal testimonies about God’s goodness and miraculous interventions for HIS glory! He compelled the future world changers to action by laying the foundation for the Biblical Mandate to Missions in 12 hours of teaching during 4 nights of classes at NISI.

Greetings from the Amazon on the Brazilian side of the Three Frontiers.

God has been good to us this month. We had a short term mission’s team come from the USA through Amazon Xpeditions near the beginning of the month. They came to help teach and have fun with the children at the alternative school, were we serve. The team also helped us with our bathroom project for a day, which we were grateful to have the help.

    Dear Family and Friends

I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart for your prayers and financial support. My trip to the Amazon was such a blessing. I had the opportunity to be a dental assistant to 3 amazing Dentists. We also had 2 Doctors and a Pediatrician. We not only served the village we were at, but the villages all around it too. Whole villages would come in boats to get medical attention.

    Dear friends,

It seems like a long time since I shared our progress with the Yavari project. Guess what?! The adventure continues! Allow me to share with you some exciting news. Our recent trip has proven to be very effective. While supervising all of the projects, we continued to reach the projected goals, as well as made sure that we continued to win souls in the process, the most important goal of all.
