Heather Williams

Heather

My name is Heather Williams I’m 21 years old and I’m from a small

town in Montana. I came to Christ For The Nations Institute in Dallas Texas

three years ago to learn more about Worship and Technical Arts, and learn

to become a worship leader.

Well, God had a different plan for me.

In the summer of ’08 I felt led to go with Amazon Xpeditions to the

Amazon for my summer outreach program at CFNI. I did not want to go. I

told God, “I want to go somewhere like Europe, to travel, eat good foods,

drink tea and do worship ministry.” But, I knew that I was supposed to go to

the Amazon. The whole while leading up to the trip I was not excited, I did

not want to go. I knew it would be extremely hot, humid, full of bugs, and

dirty water. Little did I know just how life changing this trip was going to be!

It would be full of challenges, full of painful experiences both physically and

emotionally, but God had a plan.

God had called me there for that moment, that season in my life, to play

and swing the little children around; to teach them Sunday school songs in

English; to just hold them, and love them; to dig and build a cistern to hold

drinking water; to travel the Amazon river for days to reach the unreached;

to build a school where there was none; to show them the love of Jesus! The

children in Leticia Colombia stole my heart, and my vision and desire is to

raise those children in the Word of God; to teach them the things of God,

that they may be grounded deep in the Lord, and that they would reach out

to their own people.

Now, after I’ve finished my third year here in CFNI’s mission program, I’m

headed back. I don’t know how long I’ll be in the Amazon for, but I know

that God’s called me there at this season in my life, and I will be there

serving in any and every way I can, until He’s will is complete for me there.
