There we were trying to build the new and improved missionary house so that it can receive the indigenous students coming later this year. We were hard pressed by tons of work to do and few people and resources to do it with. Then, guess who shows up, FREEDOM!

While traveling a few weeks ago we had the opportunity to speak and share about God’s goodness and how He is actually looking to and fro throughout the whole for someone to bless and come through for. While traveling through Dallas, Adam was invited to share about our adventures in missionary life at Christ For the Nations. He challenged the students with story after story of real mission field experience that involved close calls and last minute supernatural provision and direction! He told them that they should attempt great things for God and to put themselves in a position for God to show Himself strong on their behalf. Please remember that God is looking for ways to bless you also! Spend an hour in prayer and ask Him how He wants to do it.

Adam had the honor to work a few days side by side our supervisors in Leticia, Colombia this month. He traveled 9 hours by fast boat to meet up with their team. They held several children’s ministry events (where Captain Power Verse was in attendance) and were able to visit and make a few contacts with indigenous communities and villages in Brazil and Colombia. We can never say enough about how much we appreciate our supervisors and the office staff. Without their full time support, wisdom, and love we couldn’t stay on the mission field. So it was extra special for Adam to be able to put his hands on the work that they have across the border. As if we didn’t have enough going on, I had my tonsils taken out. They have been infected for years, and we made the decision to have them removed. I hated to stay home with so much work to do, so the next day I was back on the motorcycle.

There has been devastating flooding and we needed to check on a church we had built. In the photo to the left I am standing at the edge of the water. Everything green you see is floating. If you look closely you can see roof tops in the background. God was merciful and the water rose and stopped only ten feet from the church!! Praise the Lord!!!Adam preached a fantastic (not to mention entertaining!) message about being bold in our faith. He divided the congregation in half, one side was the Israelites and the others were the Philistines. Our co-Pastor stood at Adam’s side, and they impersonated Jonathon and his armor bearer. It was a sermon the church won’t soon forget!!

It feels like only last month we were writing our newsletter telling you we were expecting. Where does the time go? Our littlest darling turned one this month. The week before her birthday our Pastor took it upon himself to throw her a party. They do not joke around about parties. I must admit I wasn’t super pumped about the thought of a birthday blowout for my one year old. All I could think about was an overly excited little girl who would miss her nap and have way too much sugar. But then I remembered why they throw such elaborate celebrations for their first birthdays. The infant mortality rate is 50%. The fact that they lived through the first year is reason to celebrate. So we had our private family celebration in the morning then joined our church family to celebrate God’s mercy with popcorn, kool aid and birthday cake. And yes, she did miss her nap and yes; she did have way too much sugar. She fell asleep in her party dress and all I could do was stand over her crib stare at the prettiest little girl that ever was. Even if she does have chocolate icing behind her ear.

Our friends from Church of the Good Shepherd in Pass Christian, Mississippi, came for a week of hard labor. Braving the heat they poured their hearts and 200 bags of cement, into improving the living conditions of the Bible school students. They helped us build two new toilet stalls, two new shower stalls, a laundry room, laid the ground work for a new dining/kitchen area, and as if that weren’t enough, they added a whole third floor to the dorm space! Working right along side of the students, they carried sand, mixed cement, bent rebar, laid bricks, dug ditches and laid pipe. You should have seen these ladies, barely five feet tall, carrying buckets of wet cement mix on their shoulders, handing them off to the guys who then hauled them up three floors of scaffolding! It was so much work, but they got up every morning ready to hit it again. And again. And again. We even somehow managed to squeeze in a few days worth of VBS! We had almost a hundred children crammed into too small of a space, but still we prevailed! The group brought crafts, games, and prizes, put on animal costumes, and preformed an impromptu puppet show! Well done! At the end of their week we took half a day off and saw some of the beauty of the Amazon. We took a small boat out and watched the pink dolphins play, visited a local Indian tribe, and chummed around with a few jungle animals. We appreciate everything they did, from carrying down much needed supplies, to carrying hundreds of bricks for the Bible School. They were a shining example of what every missionary hopes to have in a short term group; hard working, thankful, flexible, and joyful. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

Look at all the work done this month, we completed the second of three security walls on our property! The construction is moving forward, but it hasn’t been without its setbacks. We were hit by the worst rainstorm anyone here can remember. That’s saying a lot considering we live in the rainforest! Streets all over the city were badly flooded, and many homes were damaged. Including ours. Because the front wall was only partially finished, it actually helped funnel water into the house! The guard that stays at the house had to climb on top of his bed and ride it out! We had about 18inches of water inside, but the worst part was we store all of our building materials there. We lost a whole truck load of sand and several bags of cement mix. But praise the Lord no one was hurt and because of it we learned a lot. We were able to add more drainage pipes, and rework a few things that weren’t yet finished. We will count this as a blessing.
